To the Dual Diagnosis Chat Room
The Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Mental Health
Administration (ADAMA)
states that at least 50 percent of the 1.5
to 2 million Americans who have
severe mental illnesses also abuse alcohol or illicit drugs. For half of
the people with Bipolar Disorder this means more difficulty in diagnosis,
treatment and control. A person with concurrent diagnoses of Bipolar
Disorder and Addiction is said to have a Dual Diagnosis.
Treating only one of half of the problem
isn't good enough. For stabilization and recovery "BOTH" the mental
illness and addiction must be treated together.
This chat room is provided for those who
have dual diagnosis, have been through recovery and stabilization, and for those
who are seeking recovery. This room, like the other chat rooms at Bipolar
World, is opped by persons who have "been there", so for warm, understanding
friendship and support please come in.
